Intimate Strangers

It's been a while I've seen your smile,
Far too long that I've heard from you,
Wondering at life's every mile,
If ever again I'd hear from you.

I wonder why we'd play along,
As if like strangers who've never met,
And then like the wind that softens a song,
Our silence helps us forget.

Every moment we've held so dear so far,
Every feeling we've tried to dodge,
All of a sudden irrelevant they are,
An indifference we've tried to forge.

And in a jiffy we fade from being,
Friends to worse than strangers,
But how cold it feels to stand foreseeing,
All the coming dangers.

Cuz, a part of me is lost with time,
The 'me' that always knew you,
Although I cannot bring that back,
I keep wondering, if ever, I'd hear from you.

But then I think is this really worth,
The wait, that longing yearn,
Only to fall back in that dearth,
Marooned from concern.
